This homebuilder's site features a unique custom theme, custom map, custom sliders, virtual tours, seamless videoconferencing, faceted search, and a powerful relational structure for the back end that keeps everything organized.

Check it out:

  • I built an intuitive custom faceted search using FacetWP with custom-styled controls.
  • I designed a custom viewer for Matterport 3D virtual tours of model homes. Tours open in an immersive full-window experience with supered property information and Hamlet's logo.
  • Created custom carousel sliders using Flickity library. Sliders are touch/drag friendly, fun to use, and custom designed for the site's unique image sizes.
  • Built a custom interactive Google Map for the home page.
  • Created custom hierarchical photo gallery for the site using the lightGallery modal.

What you can't see:

  • I designed a custom admin interface with relational post types, custom taxonomies, and custom ACF fields. Communities, floorplans, and available homes refer to each other in robust ways, making entry of new properties quick and easy.
  • I also built a Home Configurator web application for the site, which allows visitors to configure different floorplans, color palettes, and trims, then confirms the users' selections and prints up a custom document with their dream home. Unfortunately, I'm not sure it was ever used, but I may be able to conjure it up if there is any interest.
  • Built a custom integrated video communication application for the site using Tokbox / Vonage Video API. Agents can create private rooms and invite homebuyers to video chat with absolutely no downloads and no configuration. With this system, they can provide live virtual tours and conduct meetings with interested homebuyers, right on the Hamlet Homes site.
  • Clean, uncluttered WordPress Admin experience. Minimal dependence on external plugins and libraries. Easy to understand, well documented code base.

  • The home page has three draggable custom sliders on it, all based upon Flickity. This includes the hero slider, and the "Latest News", and "Upcoming Events" blocks.

What you can't see:

  • I built a custom Google Map using Contrail OneRain data that I pull using the Contrail API. The data is cached and stored locally every few minutes to avoid hammering the API. The map live updates and it shows current flooding levels for creeks in the San Mateo area. Unfortunately, it never launched to the public, but if you are interested, contact me and I can show it to you.
  • Full support for the Gutenberg block editor, including color palettes, block styles, and custom blocks.
  • Clean, uncluttered WordPress Admin experience. Minimal dependence on external plugins and libraries. Easy to understand, well documented code base.

A custom Shopify site showcasing and selling a fine book that details a unique Spanish guitar collection.

Check it out:

  • I developed unique functionality and styling for the site, deeply customizing the code of the Narrative theme using Shopify's Liquid templating system as well as custom JavaScript and CSS.
  • This e-commerce site has a totally custom look and feel that draws heavily from the styling of the book itself, while featuring Shopify's familiar and straightforward checkout process.
  • The book includes 3 CDs of recordings created with the guitars in the collection. Rather than use Shopify's expensive apps to demo the audio, I simply created a SoundCloud account and playlist for the book and embedded it into the Shopify page, providing an excellent playback experience for users and allowing the tracks to be easily edited by admins and shared via social media.

What you can't see:

  • Minimal dependence on third party apps and libraries.
  • Clean, well documented code based on a first party Shopify theme that should see a long support life.
  • No additional monthly or per-transaction fees beyond Shopify's base charges.
